Busy Start of the New Season

It hasn't been anything less than busy and exciting for the STJ debate society as we begin our run up to the first tournament of the 2009-2010 season - the Huber Debates at the University of Vermont in Burlington!

We've had 2 new member meetings that were very well attended - both had to be moved to larger classrooms, and even then it was standing room only for the demonstration debates. After the debates, new students could ask questions of the coaches or of the student debaters to figure out why and how they made particular arguments during the debate.

In another development, STJ Debate practices will be broadcast live this season on the Stickam network. This is the link you will need to view the debates.

Debates are broacast on Monday and Thursday nights at 7PM Eastern time, (which I believe is 24:00 GMT). If you log in and view the debate you can broadcast your own webcam and participate in our chat room, which so far has been populated with very keen and critical observers. Looks like a lot of fun in there!

Meetings are held every Monday and Thursday night in Marillac Hall. If you are a student, you can get more information by emailing the program's director, Steve Llano.
